If you were gearing up to say goodbye to Dragon Age after The Veilguard, hold that thought. Turns out, John Epler, the creative director behind the series, isn’t planning on wrapping things up any time soon.
In fact, he’s basically saying he’ll keep making Dragon Age games until someone physically has to stop him.
A fan recently popped the big question on Bluesky, asking if The Veilguard was going to be the “grand finale” for the series or if we’d see more Dragon Age goodness in the future.
And Epler’s response was – “I mean, I can’t speak for the rest of the team or literally anyone else, but my current personal sentiment is that if they let me, I’ll be making Dragon Age games until they have to wheel me out in one of those Captain Pike beeping chairs.”
So, while there’s no official confirmation about another game just yet, Epler’s response is a pretty big hint.
Laura Miele, president of EA Entertainment, had this to say at an investors’ showcase: “This is BioWare doing what it does best: immersive storytelling, memorable characters, and a gorgeous world.”
According to Miele, the Dragon Age community is buzzing, and both fans and the press are hyped.
The game’s already seeing strong demand on both consoles and PC, which is a good sign that The Veilguard could be a huge hit.
What’s New in The Veilguard?
Speaking of excitement, let’s talk about the game itself.
If you haven’t been keeping up, let me remind you that Dragon Age: The Veilguard is shaping up to be absolutely massive.
Remember how big Inquisition felt with its 88,000 lines of dialogue? Well, The Veilguard has over 140,000 lines.
As for the the story, it is set ten years after Dragon Age: Inquisition and 22 years after the Battle of Ostagar (aka the start of Dragon Age: Origins).
Oh, and guess who’s back? The Inquisitor from Inquisition is returning, and you’ll even get to customize their appearance again.
Bioware also revealed some of the locations they’ll be featuring in The Veilguard.
And if you’re wondering whether choices from previous games will carry over and affect this one—don’t sweat it. There are only three choices from Inquisition that come into play here, and they’re all pretty easy to remember, even if you haven’t touched the game in nearly a decade.
But let’s get to the important stuff—romance. They’ve introduced a whole lineup of companions, and every single one of them is romanceable by your player character, “Rook.” You’ll have full control over Rook’s background, personality, appearance, and a bunch more.
Now coming back to future of Dragon age, Epler’s enthusiasm makes it clear that the team still has a lot of love for this world, and they’re not running out of ideas anytime soon.
Maybe we’ll get to explore new parts of Thedas, uncover hidden histories, or even face off against threats we haven’t even imagined yet.
But what do you think? Are you excited for more Dragon Age, or are you ready for BioWare to move on to something else?
