New Dragon Age: The Veilguard Trailer Unmasks the Villains of Thedas

As you already know Dragon Age: The Veilguard is dropping on Halloween! And just when you thought you were prepared, BioWare hit us with a final trailer that reveals the bone-chilling foes we’ll be facing in Thedas.

Let’s just say, things are looking grim—and that’s putting it lightly.

You might remember the earlier trailers, which gave us a sneak peek into Tevinter (this entry’s main setting) and introduced us to a fresh crew of companions. But this latest trailer flips the script and focuses on the freaky lineup of enemies coming our way.

So if you’ve been wondering who—or what—you’ll be up against, consider this article preview of these baddies.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Official Launch Trailer

The official trailer kicks off with ancient artifacts suddenly waking up, shaking off centuries of dust, and sparking to life. And then the monstrous tin can that looks like it just walked out of a D&D campaign gone wrong.

This thing roars to life and smashes everything in sight like an animated suit of armor on steroids. And as if that wasn’t enough nightmare fuel, we get a glimpse of a creature with far too many tentacles wrapping itself around a guard’s neck, yanking him into the abyss.

Then we hear from Emmrich Volkarin, our resident necromancer companion, with a lovely little line about how “the dead… stir more easily than they should.”

Nothing to worry about, right? Another voiceover chimes in, warning us that dragons have been getting their fill of the Blight (yes, that Blight), and now Darkspawn are charging straight for Weisshaupt, the Grey Wardens’ HQ.

Long story short, Thedas is basically falling apart.

But the real deal is Solas himself, the one and only Dread Wolf, steps into the frame, looking menacing this time around.

His eyes glow that unsettling green-blue while he manipulates the raw, unstable power he gained from tearing open the Veil.

Back in Inquisition he was a romance option with some serious baggage. But Now He’s the ex who’s not just ghosting you—he’s tearing reality apart.

If you romanced him in the previous game you can say that the romantic spark might have dead and gone. Because you know its hard to flirt with the guy who’s ready to end the world.

So, could Rook and the crew actually have what it takes to stop Solas and save Thedas? With all these boss-level nightmares rolling in, it’s not gonna be a cakewalk.

Between the Blight-fueled dragons, undead legions, and tentacled monsters, you might be wondering: what would you do in Rook’s shoes?
