Stardew Valley fans with the 1.6.9 update, mobile players on Android and iOS you can now enjoy the farming with friends right on their phones. This update introduces a hidden multiplayer mode that’s easy to unlock—once you know the right taps to get it going!
If you’re pumped to invite friends to your farm or join theirs, this guide has everything you need to start with Stardew Valley’s first mobile multiplayer experience.
Oh, quick heads-up: this feature’s still in development, so you might run into a few bugs here and there. And if you’re on Apple Arcade+, unfortunately, multiplayer’s not available there.
Unlocking Multiplayer Mode on Stardew Valley Mobile
- Start at the Title Screen – First, find the four little leaf clusters around the Stardew Valley logo.
- Tap in This Exact Order – Here’s the secret code: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right.
- Hit the ‘?’ Button – Once you’ve finished tapping, hit the ‘?’ button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Exit the ‘?’ Menu – Now, close the ‘?’ menu, and voila! You should see a new ‘Co-op’ button on the title screen.
Once you’re in the ‘Co-op’ menu, you can choose to either host a game or join one.
If you’re joining a friend’s game, just enter their IP address to connect. In case If you’re hosting, set up your farm with cabins for your friends to move in.
If you’re not sure of your IP, a quick “What’s my IP address?” search on Google will help.
Just make sure that all the people who are joining you should be connected to same network like Same WiFi.
If you are not on the same network multiplayer session will not work.
Tips for Smooth Multiplayer session
Since this is an experimental feature, there’s a chance for some bugs and issues, So make sure to follows these tips as well –
- Use a PC to Host (If You Can): For the smoothest experience, try connecting to a PC-hosted farm from a high-performance phone on a reliable Wi-Fi connection.
- Enable Network Permissions on iOS: If you’re on iOS, your device may ask for network permissions the first time you try to connect.
- Turn On Do Not Disturb: Calls or notifications while hosting can disrupt the game, so to keep things smooth, switch your phone to ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode before you start.
- Watch for Lag: If you notice any lag, it might be due to background apps or intensive activities like mining and fishing with multiple players.
