If getting lost in epic worlds, with characters you have spent hours with, is your thing, then get ready for a treat. Dragon Age: The Veil is ratcheting up a lot of tension, and the creators are holding their breath as a prequel—adding up now—an audio drama podcast called Vows & Vengeance. If you’ve ever tuned into those old-school radio dramas, think of that—but swap the gravel-crunching footsteps for arrows whizzing by and spells crackling through the air.
Sounds like a blast, right?
This is no lovely wee bonus podcast, on the contrary, it serves as an introduction to what lays ahead with The Veilguard. Vows & Vengeance dives into the story of a retired thief on a mission to find her lover in the Fade—a place as mysterious as it sounds.
And almost every episode introduces a guest star from the game.
So, you’ll hear familiar voices like Harding, the beloved dwarf scout from Inquisition, co-starring in episode two.
And judging by the teaser, you can bet that other major characters will make an appearance—guys like Solas and Varric.
I mean, really become invested in the Veil Guard story—this podcast joins tie-ins that already include the Tevinter Nights short story collection and the comic The Missing. Oh, and then there’s that Netflix series on the horizon—I just know that’s going to get intertwined into the plot of the game in some really clever way.
It’ll be like when they did that little crossover with Dragon Age: Redemption by Felicia Day and it ended up being an honest-to-god, pretty solid tie-in for Dragon Age 2. Oh, BioWare’s been teasing a little of the combat.
That’s quite enough for me. If you’re anything like me, though, it’s the story that keeps one coming back.
I think we’re all itching to see where they take the ending of Inquisition—it’s been a decade now? After all, The Veilguard arrives October 31, just in time for some Halloween gaming, and with it, the return of truly ugly pre-order cosmetics.
Vows & Vengeance, meanwhile, has been releasing since August 29, and almost everywhere you get to listen to your favorite shows, such as Spotify, YouTube, and many others.
