BioWare Highlights Taash and Grey Wardens in their Dragon Age: The Veilguard Video

So, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is back on our radar, and if you’ve been following along, you probably saw the latest trailer drop during Sony’s State of Play on September 24, 2024. The trailer gave us a good look at Taash, a Qunari companion, and the legendary Grey Wardens—both of which are bound to play a big role in the game.

Now, I’ve been a Dragon Age fan for a while, and trust me, the excitement for The Veilguard feels like waiting for the next season of your favorite show that’s been on an eternal hiatus.

For some players, The Veilguard might actually be their first step into the world of Thedas. And if that’s you, this could be a great introduction to BioWare’s sprawling fantasy universe.

But let’s talk about the elephant—or, more accurately, the Blighted Dragon—in the room.

Blighted Dragon Gameplay Trailer

Some of the old-school fans (like me) have been a little antsy about how The Veilguard is going to carry over choices from past games, especially now that BioWare has retired the Dragon Age Keep system that tracked all your decisions.

You know, those game-changing moments where you chose to save or doom entire kingdoms? Yeah, those.

But despite some of that worry, the trailer has everyone buzzing about Dragon Age again—and the latest trailer centers around Rook, the player character, leading the Veilguard against a Blighted Dragon called Corius the Icetalon, but Rook isn’t real star, here

The real highlight here is Taash. She’s a Qunari companion and, an actual dragon hunter.

In the latest trailer which they showcase recently they highlighted her abilities sync up perfectly with Rook’s magic and Lucanis’ assassin skills. It’s a good showcase of teamwork, and if you’re into that mix of tactical combat and roleplaying, this scene should get your attention.

But let’s not forget the Grey Wardens. These guys were the backbone of Dragon Age: Origins, but then kind of faded into the background in later games. Well, guess what? They’re back, and it’s a pretty big deal.

With the whole mess involving corrupted elven gods and Darkspawn, the Grey Wardens are stepping up again to save the day. One of your companions, Davrin, is even an active Warden. For those of us who’ve been around since Origins, it’s a nostalgic moment.

Futhermore you can also choose Grey warden as background for your rook as well.

So we can expect the Wardens to play a much more prominent role than they have in a while.
