And so, as was always bound to happen, the good folk at BioWare went and dropped a huge Dragon Age: The Veilguard RPG spoiler right there among the people. This game which is set to make its debut this October, was already buzzing with excitement over Morrigan’s comeback and Solas’s new Dreadwolf form.
But hold onto your seats—BioWare’s newest preview also has revealed that Weisshaupt Fortress, the stronghold synonymous with the Grey Wardens, is going to be under siege by Ghilan’nain and her Archdemon.
And, well, it’s fair to say this bombshell has split the fan base.
Most would say that now giving away a plot twist of that magnitude would weaken a certain level of suspense created for the game.
This way, by withholding such a juicy tidbit, the game could have turned out to be more dramatic and surprisingly good.
Furthermore, some argue that an invasion of Weisshaupt Fortress by an Archdemon Double Blight led by an elven god needs more of a cameo from the main protagonist of Dragon Age: Origins to not strain credulity.
As you well know, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the fourth major entry in the series, picking up ten years after the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition.
It’s been a long time coming, with development kicking off back in 2015 and and first was announced to be coming with the name Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before changing its name to ‘The Veilguard’.
On a more exciting note, BioWare is also releasing an all new art book: The Art of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
This is available for pre-order as of today and will hit the streets November 5.
It comes packed with concept art and behind-the-scenes pictures, all for just $49.99.
There will also be a deluxe edition placed in a special slipcase, with an art print portfolio for $99.99, and an edition available at the BioWare Gear Store only for $55.00.
But as October 31, 2024, inches closer, one really can’t look past the fact that expectations for Dragon Age: The Veilguard keep getting higher—well, sans any potential controversies from the fandom itself following that cliffhanger.
