Dragon Age: The Veilguard had a big reveal earlier this year, and people definitely have opinions—mainly about the art style.
It’s clear from the trailers and gameplay clips that, unlike Dragon Age: Inquisition and the earlier games, this one’s going for a more stylized design.
But why? Honestly, no one really knows why BioWare decided to go all artsy this time, and judging by the internet’s collective groan, it might’ve been a pretty big oopsie.
What’s all the criticism about?
Once again, A bioware’s game’s look is stealing the spotlight—and not in a good way.
What’s the latest buzz is about?
Well, a viral Reddit post pointed out how bizarre the character proportions are, and people aren’t holding back.
According to that post, they are really off—like they’re trapped in some weird in-between world where they’re not quite cartoonish but definitely not realistic.
Think of those action figures with heads way too big for their bodies, and you’re close.
They’ve got narrow shoulders, oversized noggins, and an overall vibe that screams “funhouse mirror.”
Even Asmongold—Streamer known for brutally honest takes—jumped in and roasted the designs.
His reaction was Priceless – “Um, wow. Wait, wow. It didn’t look stupid until I saw it not look stupid,” Asmongold said, equal parts disbelief and sarcasm. “That’s crazy. I actually hate the game more now because it has been fixed. I should have never watched this.”
He kept going, “How did this get through? I really wonder, how the fk did this get through? This is awful. Who the fk would want to look like this?”
Harsh? Sure. But come on, you know he’s just saying what we’re all thinking!
Another YouTuber Legency Killa HD chimed in with similar complain –
The weird thing is, not every character gets hit with this curse equally.
Take Lucanis Dellamorte, for example. The guy’s supposed to be a master assassin, but with those tiny shoulders and that massive head, he looks more like he skipped every shoulder day at the gym
Other characters don’t look as awkward, but once you notice one, it’s like spotting a glitch in the Matrix—you start seeing it everywhere.
Will BioWare actually fix this? I think not.
I mean, this seems like a deliberate choice, so maybe they’re sticking with it.
There is extreamely low chances that It they soften their stance and tweak the models.
And its highly likely that they’ll double down and tell us this is just their “creative vision.”
But who knows for sure? We can speculate all day, but one thing’s for sure: gamers are not shy about calling out what they don’t like.
At the very least, BioWare might throw us a bone and give an in-game reason for why everyone’s skipping arm day.
