Dragon Age: Origins Sees 76% Player Surge After The Veilguard Release

Since Dragon Age: The Veilguard hit the scene, there’s been a full-on player stampede back to Dragon Age: Origins. Recently has witnessed 76% surge in player activity on Steam, peaking at 2,642 players. This is not bad for a game that’s been around since 2009, To put it in perspective, that’s more than its original peak of 2,278 players back in 2010.

It seems like The Veilguard has stirred something up, sparking fans to relive Origins’ legendary tale.

Origin isn’t the only DA game that has witnessed the player surge, The rest of the Dragon Age games in series getting some love from players.

For example, Dragon Age II got its own spotlight earlier this year, drawing over 1,000 players from June to August, with an all-time high of 1,421 players.

Since then, it’s simmered down to around 698 players on average.

As for 3rd title in series – Inquisition, it had a moment in June, reaching 4,964 players before settling to around 3,107 by the September, one month prior to Veilguards official release date.

But thanks to The Veilguard hype, it’s nudged up by a couple hundred more players.

Is there Origins’ Remaster on the Horizon?

This isn’t the first time Dragon Age: Origins has experienced a fan resurgence.

Simmilary when Inquisition first launched in 2014, Origins reached its all-time high of 8,363 players then, a record that still stands.

This kind of renewed intrest indicate fans are probably hoping for a remaster like Mass Effect’s Legendary Edition for the first 3 Dragon age game, but don’t hold your breath on that one.

Because the creative director, John Epler, hinted it’d be a tough project to pull off since most of the people who helped develop DA: Origins have left the company.

With the Steam Winter sales on the horizon, it’s probably the perfect time for old-school fans to dive back in and for newcomers to give the series a whirl.
