Dragon Age: The Veilguard – Inquisitor is Back, and You Can Customize Their Look, Voice, and Background

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is bringing back a familiar face—yep, It your Inquisitor from Dragon Age: Inquisition is making a comeback! And the best part? You’ll get to tweak their look, voice, and background all over again, just like old times.

In an IGN video preview, they drop this news around the 4:36 mark.

The Veilguard’s character creator isn’t just about Rook, the new protagonist. Nope, your Inquisitor—the one who saved Thedas last time—is back, and you get to mess with their background, voice, and appearance.

Remember those four voice actors from Inquisition? They’re back too! You get to pick which one will give life to your custom Inquisitor again.

Sadly, you won’t be choosing their class this time (sorry to my fellow mages), but you’ll still have fun personalizing them just like you did with Rook.

Now, do you remember that little “incident” at the end of Inquisition’s Trespasser DLC, where Solas, your worst frenemy, lopped off your Inquisitor’s hand? Yeah, well, it’s back… sort of.

They’ve got this slick robotic hand now, something straight out of Guts from Berserk, and I’ve got to say, it looks pretty badass.

Though I gotta ask: how’s that conversation with Solas gonna go down? “Hey, buddy, remember when you cut my hand off? Good times!” Yeah, that’s going to be one awkward reunion.

I’m willing to bet your Inquisitor is going to fill the role of a major NPC back at the base—like how Cullen or Leliana hung around in Inquisition.

Honestly, I thought the Inquisitor’s story was done after Trespasser.

It felt like their chapter had closed. So, when BioWare announced their return, I was both surprised and kinda hyped.

Bringing back all four original voice actors? That’s the cherry on top.

I mean, it’s not every day a character gets four different performances and still somehow feels like the same person, right?

Now, if you’re a long-time Dragon Age fan, you know this isn’t the first time BioWare’s brought back a past protagonist.

Remember Hawke’s role in Inquisition? That was a fan-favorite moment.

There’s something so satisfying about seeing these characters—who you’ve shaped and invested in—come back in new games. It’s like BioWare gets that we’re all still a little attached to our old heroes.

Fans have been itching for more closure on the Inquisitor’s story ever since Trespasser ended—especially those who romanced Solas.

I know I’ve been wondering what happens next. Did they ever track down Solas? What’s their deal now? Getting to see them our Inquisitor, even if they’re not the main star, is gonna be a treat.
